ITALSPAWN ITALIA S.r.l. was established in 1977 by Mr. Valentino Sartor as a laboratory to produce high quality mushroom spawn. The company has continued to expand its production capacity while maintaining a high quality product. Italspawn Italia S.r.l. had become one of
the world leaders in the mushroom business by the early 80's.
The company started as a family business.
Mr. Sartor's knowledge of the mushroom industry was developed as he worked with his family to operate Funghi del Montello. At that time their mushroom farm was one of the first in Italy during the 60's and definitely one of the largest mushroom farm in all Europe.
In the first years of Italspawn, the spawn production focused primarily on a few strains. Overtime, the off white hybrid mushroom 'Champignon' stood out as the most productive and best known strain. The industry's growing demand for different types of spawn strains and supplements guided our research team to develop new strains. This strain development and maintenance research continues with the assistance and cooperation of The University Cattolica of Piacenza (ITALIA).
As we mark our 25th year of business, the one constant has been our need to continually expand our spawn producing capacity to meet industry demands. Our sales volume has increased from 1.5 million liters to 5 million liters of spawn in 2001. Currently, Italspawn has the production capacity of 10 million liters of spawn per year. This volume insures a supply of high quality spawn to our distributors on several continents.
Italspawn's products are delivered to 24 different countries including our large markets in Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Serbia, Greece, Denmark, Korea and Israel.
